When Bob Clampett parted ways with Warner Bros. in 1946, he left behind some unfinished business: a few cartoons that weren't quite finished. Animator Arthur Davis was promoted to the director's chair in the wake of Clampett's exit, and finished up "The Goofy Gophers" (released in 1947). The two title characters were loosely based on an early 1900's comic strip by cartoonist Frederick Opper, about a duo of extremely polite gentlemen.
