Last month, CDFW returned two orphaned black bears to remote, wild habitat in Calaveras County. The two siblings, both males, were captured as cubs in Arnold in July and spent the previous five months or so in wildlife rehabilitation, first at the Ramona Wildlife Center in Southern California and then at Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue. The two bears are part of a pilot study involving seven young, rehabbed bears released back into the wild this past fall – as opposed to the typical spring release
