Slovenian button accordionist Lojze Slak was a master composer and performer of tuneful melodies that showcase the instrument's beauty. This song, Triglav, is one of his most popular compositions, not only in Slovenia but also in North America. Walter Ostanek, Canada’s Polka King, covered it on his button accordion recordings. In 1991, my father and I recorded it using Trumpets with the Button Accordion on our Slovenian Gold album. It has also been reissued on a 45 RPM record in the Netherlands.

"Visoko Nad Oblaki" (High Above the Clouds)- Lojze Slak Like many of Lojze Slak's compositions, this was originally performed with his vocal quintet accompanied by button accordion, bass, and guitar. The beauty of the melody makes this a standard for many Slovenian folk music lovers. It was first popularized in the United States by Frank Novak with a different key combination, but I based my arrangement on the Slak recording from the 1970s, performed here on a Strasser ADGC Button Box Accordion.
