Parasites! In the past I would routinely worm my chickens in the spring and summer to ensure that they were worm free. However training to be a veterinary nurse has exposed me to the scary reality of the increase in antibiotic, anti microbial and parasite resistance! So from now on I will be performing faecal worm egg counts to see if I actually need to worm my flock and if so - against which particular parasites!
