Floaters are a common occurrence after cataract surgery, although I didn't get mine until a year afterwards. I've been dealing with mine for 4 months and they are driving me insane. My retina specialist tells me they should settle but I need to give it 6 months to a year and if they don't settle he will do a vitrectomy to get rid of them.

For my right eye cataract surgery with a toric monfocal IOL 9 months ago the surgeon used a dropless method (actually reduced drops, to only 2drops/day for a few weeks) with an injection of antibiotic and steroid. I didn't notice any extra floaters after the surgery, I already had some very faint ones that I rarely notice now.

Apr 23, 2021 · I had occasional floaters before surgery. They seemed fairly large, not dark, and out of focus. About 2-3 weeks after surgery I did notice a few smaller, darker, and I guess sharper particle looking things. I am 6 months out from surgery now, and I don't notice any at all.

They have drastically decreased as I got older and the pain less severe. I'm 62. That was up until yesterday, which was about 3 weeks after my 2nd eye had cataract surgery.
