Tens of thousands of Michigan residents remain without power after severe storms swept across the state on Wednesday and Thursday.

Temperatures in the low 90s and dewpoints in the 70s will create heat indices around 100 degrees, while severe storm potential increases this afternoon

Viewers are reporting trees, wires and poles being downed, as heavy, dark cloud cover hit the region Thursday evening.

Southeast Michigan is in for a hot, humid day on Tuesday, with afternoon temperatures climbing to around 90 degrees and heat index values reaching the upper 90s to near 100 degrees. Skywatchers in Southeast Michigan will have the chance to see a spectacular partial lunar eclipse late Thursday into early Friday.

Heat, humidity and daily storm chances are forecast for southeast Michigan this week, with highs near 90 and localized flooding possible.

On Sept. 2, storms are forecast to develop throughout the day bringing the threat of tornadoes, hail, flooding and strong winds.
