The weather service said two tornadoes struck in Detroit on Thursday, while other areas saw more than 3 inches of rain.

A tornado that touched down on Detroit’s lower east side Thursday damaged at least 20 properties, knocked down dozens of trees and left thousands without power, city officials said Friday.
