Naomi Osaka is one of the best tennis players in the world, but her walk-on appearances have become almost as much appointment viewing as her play on the court.

It took a significant amount of resilience and restraint for her to reset and find a way through to the third round with a comprehensive final set to win 6-2, 5-7, 6-1.

Osaka, who spent part of her childhood not far from the grounds here at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, gave her team a little fist pump as she headed off to the net to shake hands.
