England's managing director of cricket Rob Key spoke about the potential of Ben Stokes becoming of England's ODI and T20I captain, replacing Buttler.

While several names, including Phil Salt, Liam Livingstone, and Harry Brook, have been discussed to succeed Buttler in the role, ECB managing director Rob Key has now backed Ben Stokes to take up ODI captaincy.

Ben Stokes hung his boots from ODI cricket in 2022, however, he made a return to the format to play in the ODI World Cup 2023. Stokes had kept an option open for a return in the Champions Trophy before his hamstring injury derailed his thoughts.
