Borussia Dortmund reached the Champions League quarter-finals for the second year in a row as second-half goals by Emre Can and Maximilian Beier gave them a 2-1 win at Lille for a 3-2 aggregate victory on Wednesday.

LILLE, France - Borussia Dortmund fought back to reach the Champions League quarter-finals for the second year in a row as second-half goals by Emre Can and Maximilian Beier gave them a deserved 2-1 win at Lille on Wednesday.

Lille will be aiming to reach the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time ever, as they host last year's runners-up Borussia Dortmund in the second leg of this last Round of 16 clash.  The French Ligue 1 team fought back to earn a 1-1 draw at Signal Iduna Park in last Tuesday's first leg with Hákon Arnar Haraldsson's second half strike cancelling out Karim Adeyemi's earlier goal.

Borussia Dortmund recovered from losing an early goal to fight back and beat Lille 2-1 in France in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on Wednesday, sealing a 3-2 aggregate victory and a place in the quarter-finals.

It put Lille 2-1 up on aggregate after a 1-1 draw in the away leg in Germany. But, having come close several times, Dortmund hit back in the second half and levelled in the 54th minute when captain Emre Can converted a penalty after Thomas Meunier nudged Serhou Guirassy in the box.

Borussia Dortmund may be relying on continued progress in the Champions League to keep their season alive, but they head to France for the return leg of their last-16 tie against Lille with work to do after a 1-1 draw last week.
