The Kansas City Chiefs signed veteran fullback Ben VanSumeren to their practice squad on August 31 after he was waived by the Buffalo Bills at the conclusion of the 2026 NFL preseason.

Chiefs held their first practice since the 53-man roster cutdown on Wednesday. Chris Jones and Josh Simmons missed Wednesday practice because of back issues. Andy Reid said Jones will be all right and Simmons is waiting for his back to calm.

Pole signed with the Chiefs as a UDFA last year. He didn’t make their final roster and spent some time on the Jets’ practice squad before returning to the Chiefs late in the season. Pole went on to make four starts at left tackle late in the year and played reasonably well.
