A former California Highway Patrol officer from Lodi and his wife are dead, and a Stockton man is critically injured in what police are calling a murder-suicide.

The man suspected of killing his wife at a Garden Grove home before fleeing to the Central Valley is believed to have been involved in an attempted murder-suicide plot hours later, Stockton police tell KTLA.

Garden Grove police were called just after 8 a.m. Thursday to a home in the 11500 block of Morgan Lane, just south of Orangewood Avenue.
