Tottenham defender Cristian Romero has posted a touching farewell message to Ange Postecoglou less than an hour after Thomas Frank was confirmed as his replacement.

The mayor of Melbourne has implored Tottenham to reconsider their decision to sack Aussie countryman Ange Postecoglou. Postecoglou was dismissed last week just 16 days after leading Spurs to the Europa League, with it determined that a first trophy in 17 years was not enough to redeem the Aussie after a dismal domestic season.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven has described the decision to sack manager Ange Postecoglou as "strange."

"Following a review of performances and after significant reflection, the Club can announce that Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties."

On the heels of a 2024-25 season that unexpectedly ended in the club's first major trophy since 2008, Tottenham Hotspur is parting ways with manager Ange Postecoglou.

Tottenham Hotspur players including Son Heung-Min, Guglielmo Vicario, Dominic Solanke and Micky van de Ven have paid tribute to Ange Postecoglou following his dismissal on Friday. Postecoglou was sacked with the club saying a change was necessary in order "to compete on multiple fronts."

That’s probably why his services were offered to another club before his sacking was made official by Spurs on Friday. Alfredo Pedulla revealed on Football Italia that Postecoglou was offered to Italian giants AS Roma prior to his dismissal.

Ange Postecoglou is not planning to rush back into management after his Tottenham dismissal but could be tempted by the right project.
