AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — A review by Texas lawmakers into the catastrophic July 4 floods has no intention of second-guessing decisions by local officials or assigning blame over the tragedy that killed at least 136 people, a top Republican leading the effort said Wednesday.
Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and Speaker Dustin Burrows created the Select Committees on Disaster Preparedness and Flooding, which will meet jointly. The Senate and House Select Committees on Disaster Preparedness and Flooding will meet jointly to hear invited testimony regarding: the states response to the July 4 flash flooding in Central and West Texas;
