Sydneysiders are being urged to check their tickets after one lucky person won Powerball’s entire $100m jackpot.

For the winners who win more than R250 000, they get referred to the lottery operator, Ithuba, for a payout from the PowerBall draw. Free financial and trauma counselling is given to all winners who win above R50 000, tax-free. Players must be 18 years or older to participate.

For Edwin Castro, 33, that daydream turned reality when his ticket matched all six numbers in a 2022 Powerball drawing, making him a $2.04 billion winner of the biggest lottery jackpot in world history, according to the California Lottery.
