Englishman Tyrrell Hatton has held off Daniel Hillier of New Zealand to win the Dubai Desert Classic by a stroke.

Tyrell Hatton survived a tense final hole to finish one shot ahead of Daniel Hillier and capture the Dubai Desert Classic. Hatton went into the final hole two shots clear of Hillier; however, the Englishman was forced to dispatch a par putt to win the event following his opponent’s birdie.

The Dubai Desert Classic carried a huge prize fund of $9 million (£7,396,452) and 8,000 Race to Dubai points, with champ Hatton claiming the first prize of $1,530,000 (£1,257,396). McIlroy and Moller shared $831,600 (£683,432), meaning they walked away with a cool £341,716 each.
