Did the CIA Help Charles Manson Control His Family’s Minds? Errol Morris’ ‘CHAOS: The Manson Murders’ Attempts to Find Out
This new Errol Morris documentary, streaming on Netflix, is frustrating. This combination of subject matter - an enduring source of morbid interest for more than half a century - and filmmaker should have resulted in something excellent. But it turns out to be a bit of a disappointment, though an interesting and watchable one.
In 1971, Brunner assisted other members in robbing a gun store with the ultimate goal of hijacking a plane and breaking Manson out of prison. As a result, she received a sentence of 20 years to life, though she was released on parole in 1977, per NBC.
The documentarian may have been pivotal to creating the language of true crime, but he’s not immune to streaming bloat.
A new British rom-com and a sci-fi drama are also among the films trending across streaming services including Hulu, Max and Amazon Prime Video.
