President Donald Trump said Saturday that Cambodia’s prime minister and the acting prime minister of Thailand had agreed to meet immediately

More than 100,000 people have been displaced in the deadliest conflict between the two nations in 14 years. Thailand’s acting prime minister warned on Friday that clashes with Cambodia over a border dispute “could develop into war” as the deadliest fighting between the two countries in years extended into a second day.

Thailand and Cambodia exchanged fire along their disputed border for a second day on Friday, officials from both countries said, with more than a dozen people reported killed and more than 135,000 civilians evacuated.

Trump said earlier in the weekend that he had spoken with both Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and acting prime minister of Thailand Phumtham Wechayachai in his efforts to restore peace.

The conflict over the shared border between the two countries grew on Saturday, in the deadliest conflict between them in more than a decade.

Cambodian officials are reporting 12 new deaths in its fighting with Thailand, bringing death toll on both sides to 32
