Organizations across Houston plan to honor Martin Luther King Jr., the late civil rights activist, in various ways.

Houston will hold its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Parade on Jan. 20, starting at 10 a.m. The parade will begin at the corner of Smith and McKinney streets, in front of Houston City Hall, located at 900 Smith St.

Jan. 20 marks Martin Luther King Day, a federal holiday, which just so happens to coincide with Inauguration Day this year, both listed as federal holidays.

Jan. 20 is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, but some parades and events across North Texas were rescheduled due to below-freezing temperatures.

Organizers of Monday’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade announced Saturday that the event would be canceled for the second year in a row in advance of snow and
