A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect until 12 p.m. today. Wind chills will be -15° to -25° this morning. Frostbite can happen in less than 30 minutes during this time.

4Warn Weather – COLD WEATHER ADVISORY: Remains in effect for all of Southeastern Michigan through 12:00 PM Wednesday. Wind chill values will drop to between -15° to -25° to start the day on Wednesday. This type of dangerously cold temperatures could result in frostbite in less than 30 minutes to exposed skin.

The cold temperatures outside prove especially challenging for pets that spend much of their time outdoors. Members of Detroit Dog Aide, an organization that provides medical care and pet supplies, say they find pets exposed to the elements in dangerous conditions every year.

On Tuesday, the Detroit Dog Rescue showed up to a home where a German Shepard puppy was kept inside with their parents left outside in the cold. The temperature was 3 degrees, feels like -10 degrees.

A cold weather advisory remains in effect for all of Southeastern Michigan through 12 p.m. on Wednesday. Wind chill values will drop to between -15° to -25° over the next few days.
