Jack White, Elton John, Metallica and Rob Zombie Lead Tributes to Ozzy Osbourne: ‘Long Live the Oz!'
Jack White, Metallica, Rob Zombie, Elton John and more paid tribute to Ozzy Osbourne after the Black Sabbath frontman died at 76 on Tuesday morning. Osbourne had been recovering from several spinal surgeries as well as his ongoing battle with Parkinson's disease.
Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne died on Tuesday, July 22, leaving behind an immense musical legacy and a loving family. The heavy-metal pioneer and reality television star is survived by wife Sharon Osbourne, his six children, and his grandchildren.
Osbourne said he was looking forward to Black’s speech inducting him into the avowed institution as a solo artist, nearly 20 years after he was part of its Class of 2006 with his Black Sabbath bandmates, telling Rolling Stone he was “always a big fan” of the actor.
Osbourne, fondly nicknamed the “Prince of Darkness,” was married to his second wife, television personality and music manager Sharon, from 1982 until his death. Together, they shared three children: Aimee, 41; Kelly, 40; and Jack, 39.
“It was absolutely chaos,” Cameron Glendenning, who worked on the hit MTV series for almost its entire four-season run, exclusively told The Post. “ [The family] gave zero warning. There was no, ‘Hey, director, heads up, I’m gonna go into the living room and do X, Y, Z.’ That s–t did not happen.”
One tribute to Osbourne that has gained some traction online — over 1 million views on X — comes from “Puppy Love” singer Osmond, who shared a commercial he and his sister, Marie, did with Osbourne more than two decades ago.
To celebrate the life of Ozzy Osbourne, Double Fine is giving away its heavy metal action game Brutal Legend for free, for an extremely fitting 666 minutes.
