The most powerful Mustang Mach-E you can buy today is the GT model. It has a dual-motor powertrain and standard all-wheel drive, a setup that’s rated at a stout 480 horsepower and up to 700 pound-feet of torque with the optional performance upgrade.

Here we go then, Ford ’s very first fully electric NASCAR prototype. It’s a Mustang Mach-E that looks like a good bit of fun.

Ford transformed a Mustang Mach-E electric crossover into a NASCAR demonstrator. It has three electric motors, two doors and lots of carbon fiber. As big of a car company as it is, Ford hasn’t forgotten how to have fun.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E stock car has three motors and, like the unbranded NASCAR demonstrator revealed last year, uses the NASCAR Next Gen chassis.

Ford on Thursday showed what its Mustang Mach-E electric SUV might look like as a NASCAR race car. The prototype is designed to look like a Mach-E, but is actually built around a carbon-fiber tub chassis with components from a current NASCAR Cup Series car, including the suspension, brakes, steering, and wheels, Ford said in a brief statement.

Ford is one of America's oldest automakers and one of the oldest in the world, popularized for being the first to effectively mass produce the automobile under Henry Ford with the Ford Model T. In over 120 years, Ford has become a sales leader in a variety of segments, with popular nameplates like the Ford F-150, Transit, and Mustang.

The Mustang Mach-E racer is a follow up to the SuperVan 4.2 and the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck, which were also driven by Romain Dumas at the famous hill climb. The van completed the 12.4-mile course in 8 minutes and 47.682 seconds in 2023, while the pickup finished in 8 minutes and 53.553 seconds, taking the victory in 2024.

But it is full speed ahead on electric race cars. Ford Performance, the company’s competition division, rolled out its first prototype electric NASCAR and electric Mach-E Pikes Peak hill-climb racer Thursday at its second Annual Season racing launch in Charlotte.
