As San Antonio mourns the loss of at least twelve residents swept from roads during the record flood event Thursday, prayers can be assigned to names, or at least seven of them so far. The death toll from the floods continues to rise, nearly by the hour, and Bexar County officials are beginning to tell us who they are.

With heavy rain pouring in overnight and throughout Thursday afternoon, Bexar County, the City of Live Oak, the City of Converse announced park closures due to weather and flooding.

SAN ANTONIO — Drivers are getting stuck in dangerous high water at Thousand Oaks and Wetmore on the northeast side of San Antonio Thursday morning after heavy rain and storms throughout the early morning hours.

The abrupt closure comes after the city experienced record-breaking rainfall in the morning hours on Thursday. Between 3 and 8 inches of rain occurred in Bexar County, according to the National Weather Service. The heavy rains blanketed the region, causing power outages, high-water rescues and at least four fatalities.
