The First Alert Weather Team says heavy snow has impacted much of the Deep South through Tuesday from New Orleans to Pensacola.

The First Alert Weather Team says the temperatures are below freezing across much of the area as rain continues to transition into a mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow across southern Georgia.

A Yellow Alert remains up through Wednesday morning for bitterly cold air and dangerous wind chills for a few hours early Wednesda

Wind Chill Factors will be well below zero, so if you do have to be outside Wednesday Morning, make sure you bundle up. In terms of cloud cover, we will stay mainly sunny for the day on Wednesday.

Whether it is snow or ice, any accumulation will cause hazardous travel conditions, please travel with extreme caution.

The WAFB First Alert Storm Team has declared another First Alert Weather Day for Wednesday, Jan. 22. While the precipitation will end, dangerous, record-setting cold is expected. In fact, it could be the coldest we’ve seen in Baton Rouge since 1989.
