Star power forward Jayson Tatum was almost single-handedly keeping his team's hopes of avoiding a 3-1 hole alive. He had scored 42 points and seemed to be on track for a 50-point masterpiece when he went down with a non-contact injury.

The official league results for MVP voting were released on Wednesday, with OKC Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander winning his first NBA MVP trophy with 913 total points. He beat out Denver’s Nikola Jokic (787 points), Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo (470 points), and Tatum (311 points) for the accolade.

Tatum had 42 points, eight rebounds, four assists, four steals and two blocks in Game 4 before his tendon gave out on him, doing everything possible on both ends of the court to prevent the Celtics from falling into an ominous 3-1 deficit.
