Gaels head coach Randy Bennett secured his fourth consecutive WCC Coach of the Year title.
Saxen becomes just the second back-to-back Defensive Player of the Year winner in the WCC, joining fellow Gael Diamon Simpson who won it in 2008 and 2009. Saxen finished second in the conference in rebounding and fourth in blocks, and his presence down low was a huge part of SMC's success this year.
The Gales (27-4) are ranked 21st in the country after winning back-to-back outright regular-season titles in the West Coast Conference and head into the conference tournament with a chance to repeat as champions.
Gonzaga men's basketball players Nolan Hickman, Graham Ike and Ryan Nembhard were all named to the All-WCC First Team on Tuesday.
