Frustration boiled over as McDavid wrestled free and delivered a "brutal cross-check," as described by one of the Sportsnet game announcers, that struck Garland in the head, sending him to the ice.
Wild head coach John Hynes was pretty frustrated after the game about the non-call on McDavid's elbow. He didn't even want to give us an explanation or what the referee's told him.
