Johnny Gargano is back in action on WWE SmackDown, but questions remain about his future with the company as his contract reportedly nears expiration.

Friday’s SmackDown was Gargano’s first match since the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal on the April 17, 2026 edition of SmackDown from Las Vegas. His last singles match came at NXT Stand & Deliver 2026 on April 4, when he lost an NXT North American Championship match to Myles Borne in Chesterfield, Missouri, just outside of St. Louis.
