Grab your jackets—a fierce winter storm is set to sweep across the state later this week, bringing freezing weather conditions with it.

Mid-to-late January is typically the coldest time of the year in Minnesota, so it's no surprise that the most frigid air yet this winter is expected to arrive later this week.

Roads were closed in parts of Marquette County due to whiteout conditions on Monday morning, the weather service said.
