Several feet of snow blanket Pennsylvania; National Guard called, disaster declared
ERIE, Pa. — The Governor of Pennsylvania signed a Proclamation of Disaster Emergency on Saturday morning after several feet of snow fell in the area. Three feet of snow has already fallen in parts of Erie County — and more is expected through Monday night, according to our sister station WPXI.
Pennsylvania National Guard activated to Erie due to Lake Effect Snow
Governor Josh Shapiro announced in an X post that he has activated the Pennsylvania National Guard to help residents stranded by Lake Effect Snow in Pennsylvania. According to WJET, residents of Erie County are waking up to their cars being buried in 1-3 feet of snow and closures of major highways and roads.
Snow disaster emergency declared in Pennsylvania’s Erie County
The declaration, ordered by County Executive Brenton Davis on Friday, comes as there are hundreds of stranded cars and people across the county due to the heavy snow.
