Multiple reporters including NBC Sports' Kurt Helin have indicated that the Pelicans are not expected to waive Williamson. That limits the Pelicans' options to either trading Williamson or committing to at least one more season with him. According to Charania, the latter option may necessitate some offseason discussion with the oft-injured star.

According to ESPN insider Shams Charania, the New Orleans Pelicans and Zion Williamson might be no longer over the summer. It might come to fruition after the Pelicans teased trading Williamson during the season.

Zion Williams was expected to be an elite superstar when he was drafted by the New Orleans Pelicans with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NBA draft. His athleticism was off the charts and he had dominated the high school and college levels.
