Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan left a hospital in India’s financial capital Mumbai on Tuesday, less than a week after he suffered knife injuries in a scuffle with an intruder at his house, local media reported.

Mohammad Shehzad, alias Vijay Das (30), a Bangladeshi national, attempted to rob Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan's residence due to financial struggles. Reports suggest that he needed money to fund his mother's medical treatment and had lost a housekeeping job in December of the previous year,

Saif Ali Khan was attacked last week by an intruder, later identified as Mohd Shariful Islam Shehzad, who entered his home with the intent of theft.

Saif Ali Khan was stabbed repeatedly by the intruder, Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir alias Vijay Das (30), inside his 12-floor apartment in the wee hours of January 16. The actor suffered multiple stab injuries in the attack and underwent emergency surgery.

Saif Ali Khan, who sustained six stab wounds during the burglary attempt at his residence, beefed up his security shortly after getting discharged from the hospital.

According to the police, Shariful is a Bangladeshi national who had entered India illegally and had changed his name to Bijoy Das. After the incident, the suspect spent the night at a bus stop near Patwardhan Garden before fleeing to Worli.
