Tornado warnings were issued for most of Southeast Michigan on Thursday, late afternoon and evening, as strong storms moved through the area.
“A brief weak tornado tracked across portions of Marysville, Michigan in St. Clair County on the evening of September 2, 2026,” the NWS survey notes said. “Tree damage was sporadic along a narrow path between Gratiot Boulevard and Highway 29.”
A tornado that caused tree damage in St. Clair County on Wednesday evening was confirmed as Michigan's 27th tornado of the year.
Storms moving through Michigan are dropping "torrential" rain, the weather service said. At least one tornado warning issued.
Radar-indicated tornado near Howell, Michigan, is moving southwest toward Lansing at 60 mph as a tornado warning covers parts of Livingston County until 3:45pm.
