The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued lake effect snow warnings for several counties across New York, effective Wednesday evening through Friday. Residents should prepare for significant snowfall, strong winds, and hazardous travel conditions, according to the Weather Service.

A long-duration lake-effect snowstorm continued to pummel the Great Lakes region after dumping 3-5 feet of snow in cities across New York, paralyzing travel as people tried to get home after the busy Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

"I encourage all New Yorkers to stay alert, stay off the roads if possible, and keep in contact with family and friends as we move through the next 48 hours.”
