More than 70 amendments later, the Minneapolis City Council passed a 2025 budget late Tuesday night. It comes with a property tax hike that that is lower than Mayor Jacob Frey says is needed, and the mayor is critical of the proposal.

The Minneapolis City Council on Tuesday night adopted the city's 2025 budget, which is set to increase the property tax levy by about 6.9% over the current year. The $1.88 billion budget passed after the council made more than 70 amendments to Mayor Jacob Frey's initial budget proposal submitted in August,

Property taxes were one of the big issues of the night, as the Council approved the highest increase in about 15 years.
