Tesla is facing a probe into the safety of its steering-wheel-free Cybercabs a day after the company run by Elon Musk launched the taxi service with fanfare.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said it is reviewing the rollout of the vehicle in Austin, Texas, over a self-certification issue.

Autonomous Cybercab rides are currently being offered in six cities in Texas and Florida, according to the website.
