BLUEFIELD, W.Va. (WVVA) - Gov. Patrick Morrisey ( R-W.Va .) announced Wednesday, that the federal government had accepted his request for individual assistance in McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, and Wyoming counties. Other counties in the state remain under consideration by FEMA.

Nearly two weeks after major floods struck the southern coalfields of West Virginia, Gov. Patrick Morrisey has announced that the federal government has accepted the state's request for federal aid.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, and Wyoming counties have received a major disaster declaration from President Donald trump, according to a release from Governor Patrick Morrisey’s office. President Trump approved Individual Assistance, which will provide funding to the residents affected by significant damage to their property.

President Donald Trump has approved a Major Disaster Declaration for Kentucky, unlocking federal aid to assist communities devastated by severe storms and flooding. The declaration, granted Monday, will provide financial relief for individuals, businesses, and local governments in affected areas.

Governor Patrick Morrisey announced Feb. 26 that the federal government accepted his request for Individual Assistance in McDowell, Mercer, Mingo and Wyoming counties. Other counties in the request still remain under consideration by FEMA according to the press release.

At this time FEMA officials are still reviewing reports and continue to receive virtual damage assessment surveys.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky has been given the green light for an Expedited Major Disaster Declaration from the federal government. That means public assistance from FEMA will be available for local governments and individuals in 10 counties impacted by flooding.

Clarksville is looking to have a federal disaster declaration for the city following recent flooding. "This is particularly true if Russia assesses that the US cannot or will not support the European NATO countries in a war with Russia."
