Among the Sensex constituents, Larsen & Toubro gained 4.31% after reporting a 14% increase in consolidated profit after tax to Rs 3,359 crore. Nestle rose 4.25% following its announcement of Rs 688.01 crore net profit for December 2024 quarter.

Major gainers on the Sensex included Sun Pharma, UltraTech Cement, IndusInd Bank, Zomato and Adani Ports. On the other hand, the top losers were Titan, Bajaj Finserv, Kotak Bank, Nestle & Asian Paint

Indian benchmark indices opened flat on Thursday, tracking the subdued movement of Asian markets, as the US Federal Reserve kept interest rates unchanged and offered little insight into future rate cuts.

The Indian stock market closed Wednesday's trading session on a positive note with benchmark indices rallying ahead of the monthly expiry and the upcoming Union Budget session. The stock market had seen a positive movement on Tuesday also.

The stock market opened in the red as trading began on Thursday, January 30, 2025, with consumer durables, auto, and IT stocks falling the most. At 9:20 am IST, the benchmark BSE Sensex was down by 75.

The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a positive start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 23,028 level, a premium of nearly 50 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.
