UCLA's midseason turnaround continued on Saturday with a 20-17 walk-off win over Maryland. And at the center of that was quarterback Nico Iamaleava, who overcame a scary-looking injury to lead the Bruins on a game-winning drive.
Nico Iamaleava has stepped up since the team announced the firing of DeShaun Foster on Sept.14th. In the last two games, Iamaleava has played excellently, leading the Bruins to win back-to-back upset wins against Penn State and Michigan State.
Tim Skipper’s brother, Kelly Skipper, is the running backs coach for the Buffalo Bills — and once was the offensive coordinator at UCLA from 2001 to 2002, and running backs coach from 1998 to 2000, under former Bruins’ head honcho Bob Toledo.
Maryland Terrapins football coach Mike Locksley may be safe from firing because of how competitive the job market is this hiring cycle.
Rose Bowl is the venue where Kwazi Gilmer and the UCLA Bruins (2-4) will take on the Maryland Terrapins (4-2) on Saturday, October 18, 2025. Tune in to Fox Sports 1 to see this game live. With 18 seconds left, redshirt senior running back Anthony Frias II sets up Mateen Bhaghani’s field goal in UCLA’s narrow 20-17 win. Quarterback Nico Iamaleava returns after an injury
UCLA kicker Mateen Bhaghani iced the game with a 23-yarder to push his Bruins on top. The game-winning drive started at their own 27-yard line with 35 seconds remaining, and a 35-yard Anthony Frias II run put the Bruins in field goal position.
