Stepping into Kornacki’s usual role on Election Day was Ali Velshi, a Canadian-born journalist who has been with MSNBC ― set to rebrand as MS Now later this month ― for about nine years. Though some still expressed their sadness at Kornacki’s absence, the consensus among most who tuned in was refreshingly positive.
Kornacki will be a part of the network’s coverage on NBC News Now, its free streaming channel. “NBC Nightly News” anchor Tom Llamas is leading the coverage with Hallie Jackson, the network’s senior Washington correspondent; and “Meet the Press” moderator Kristen Welker.
Ali Velshi replaced Steve Kornacki on MSNBC’s Big Board for election night coverage as the network prepares to rebrand to MS NOW. Viewers were initially surprised by Kornacki’s absence but quickly praised Velshi’s performance, analytical skills, and stylish attire.
Republican Jack Ciattarelli couldn’t hold onto Trump’s gains in heavily Hispanic and Asian American areas or his own past gains in wealthy suburbs.
