A man was arrested and jailed Monday just hours after an early morning shooting at a Little Woods apartment left another man dead, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

Police identified and arrested a total of five suspects Sunday and two more Monday.  Investigators said the charges range from possession of illegal drugs to attempted murder.

Zwolle Assistant Police Chief Christopher Scott Goodman has been arrested after questions regarding a shooting he recently reported raised red flags. An investigation, led by Sheriff Aaron Mitchell and his team began after Goodman reported that another vehicle pulled up next to his patrol car and began firing while he was driving along US Highway 171 near Old Pleasant Hill.

Police arrested a 39-year-old man in connection with a shooting early Monday near a gas station in south Wichita. The shooting left a 33-year-old man with serious injuries, Wichita police said in a news release. Officers responded to a report about the shooting around 3:30 a.m. in the 2100 block of South Broadway, near Kinkaid.

A man has been arrested following an investigation into a street racing and shooting incident in Baton Rouge, police say.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. ( WWSB) - St. Petersburg Police department (SPPD) detectives arrested Corey Deron Battle, age 47, for 2nd degree murder in the shooting death of Jerome Smith, age 44. On Oct. 30, a neighbor found Smith in his home, bleeding from a gunshot wound.
