Washington is seeing a lot more lightning strikes due to climate change, and that could lead to more wildfires that are difficult for crews to fight.

Must-see video from Mount Washington shows multiple flashes of lightning near the summit of the region’s highest peak.

SEATTLE — Thunderstorms that progressed slowly over the western Washington region Wednesday evening produced lightning strikes area-wide. Some even wreaked havoc on homes and public transportation.

The storms themselves developed as warm, humid air collided with a passing disturbance moving across Northern New England.
