Winter Storm Warning: Multiple inches of snow in Chicago area disrupts holiday travel | LIVE RADAR
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect in the Chicago area until Sunday morning. The snowstorm was expected to bring up to 8 inches or more in some areas. Over 1,000 flights have been canceled Saturday at Chicago airports.
A winter storm watch has been issued for the entire Chicago area, as heavy snow could impact the region in the days after Thanksgiving.
Hundreds of flights have been canceled in and around Chicago and roads are becoming treacherous as one of the busiest travel weekends of the year collides with a major storm bringing wintery conditions throughout the US Midwest Saturday.
ABC7 AccuWeather Meteorologists Tracy Butler and Larry Mowry said light snow is expected to move into the area early Monday afternoon. Much of the Chicago area will see snow showers by 4 p.m., and an additional 1 to 3 inches of accumulation is expected for most of the area.
Winter hasn’t even officially started, yet the vibe is already approaching full late-February fatigue. A new storm is barreling out of the Plains toward the Northeast, threatening more travel disruptions after a post-Thanksgiving blast dropped record November snow in Chicago,
