Rich Rodriguez is heading back to West Virginia. According to ESPN The Mountaineers announced Thursday that they had re-hired Rodriguez 17 years after he left for Michigan. The Jacksonville State coach will succeed Neal Brown after Brown was fired at the end of the season.

After stepping down as the Jacksonville State football coach to take the West Virginia job, Rich Rodriguez, released a statement. In a statement posted on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, Rodriguez thanked a litany Jax State staffers and reflected on the last three years.

Before returning to West Virginia, Rodriguez led Jacksonville State to three-straight nine-win seasons, earned the 2024 C-USA regular season and conference championships, won the 2023 New Orleans Bowl and had a first-place finish in the Atlantic Sun Conference in 2022.
