Two Utah men face terrorism charges after they allegedly placed a failed incendiary explosive under a news vehicle, prompting an FBI investigation and multiple felony counts.
OREM, Utah (AP) — The shooter who assassinated conservative activist Charlie Kirk and then vanished off a roof and into the woods remained at large more than 24 hours later Thursday as federal investigators appealed for the public’s help by releasing a pair of photos of the person believed responsible.
Hours after the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, FBI Director Kash Patel declared online that “the subject” in the killing was in custody. The shooter was not. The two men who had been detained were quickly released.
The campus is now quiet, with the exception of residents continuing to pay their respects. The FBI is continuing the process of returning personal items that were on scene to students.
It took investigators roughly 33 hours to identify and arrest the suspect, according to FBI Director Kash Patel.
