DETROIT - Tornado Warnings and Severe Thunderstorm Warnings are being issued across Southeast Michigan, and that storm pattern could continue for the next few hours. The National Weather Service in Detroit has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for most of the region through 7 p.m. tonight. The biggest risks are for high winds and heavy downpours.

More bad weather is pushing into Metro Detroit following a heavy round of thunder, lighting, and downpours that hit the region Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

NWS will survey Detroit’s east side to determine if a tornado touched down and caused the extensive damage.

“A brief weak tornado tracked across portions of Marysville, Michigan in St. Clair County on the evening of September 2, 2026,” the NWS survey notes said. “Tree damage was sporadic along a narrow path between Gratiot Boulevard and Highway 29.”

The National Weather Service will survey damage Friday in parts of Detroit and nearby communities after a powerful line of thunderstorms moved through Southeast Michigan Thursday afternoon, producing radar indications and damage consistent with a possible tornado.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Delaware and Licking counties until 10 p.m. Sept. 3. The weather service briefly issued a severe thunderstorm warning just before 8:30 p.

LIVINGSTON COUNTY, Mich. – A tornado warning has been issued for Livingston County until 3:45 p.m. Thursday. The warning was issued at 3:05 p.m. after a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Fowlerville. This is a radar-indicated rotation.
