Heavy rain brought flooding overnight, shutting some rail lines and prompting warnings of delays and cancellations. The Met Office recorded 43.3mm (1.7in) of rainfall in a 24-hour period on the Isle of Wight.

Major London roads are shut with severe delays across the capital as Storm Conall has flooded parts of the city.

Bognor, Arundel, Crawley, Bexhill, Uckfield and several other locations in Sussex experienced as much as 30mm of water. The River Ouse, Uck, Cuckmere and Arun already had high water levels from Storm Bert and Storm Connall has caused them to break their banks into Wednesday morning.

Downpours overnight courtesy of Storm Conall have led to levels in Bartley Water being very high, leading the Met Office to warn residents to protect their properties from flooding. The worst affected areas are likely to be Ashurst Bridge and Woodlands Road from 10.30am. The water levels will fall by 5pm today, the Met Office is predicting.

Trains have been cancelled in parts of southern England after heavy rainfall flooded railway lines during Storm Conall.
