Here's what school districts are saying about possible delays and cancellations as kids head back to school on Wednesday, Jan. 8.

Schools as far south as El Paso, Texas, closed due to a polar vortex that has brought historically low temperatures and snowfall to parts of the U.S.

The band of heavy snow, which hit other areas of central Ohio, forced Licking County Sheriff Randy Thorp to declare a level two snow emergency for the region. The declaration declared roadways as hazardous with blowing and drifting snow and that people should only drive if necessary.
