New York flags are flying at half mast today in honor of Minnesota Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, who were killed in a politically motivated shooting​.

The suspect wanted in the slaying of a Minnesota lawmaker and her husband, as well as in the injury shooting of a state senator and his wife, was found Sunday night armed and crawling in a field in a sparsely populated stretch of Minnesota,

Surveillance footage captured an attempted murder, according to charges unsealed Sunday: A man wearing a mask, a blue shirt and police-style tactical vest with a badge knocked on a door in Champlin and announced himself as a police officer. He then entered the house and shot Minnesota Sen. John Hoffman and his wife.

Wisconsin Democrats gathered this weekend in Dells for their annual convention under heightened security after the two Democratic Minnesota lawmakers were gunned down in their homes.
