Coach Ken Niumatalolo, in his first year in charge of the Spartans, will lead SJSU in the Dec. 24 game against South Florida. The Spartans (7-5, 3-4 Mountain West), then quarterbacked by Hawaii native Chevan Cordeiro, lost to Coastal Carolina in last year’s version of the bowl game.

San Jose State is headed back to the Hawaii Bowl for a second straight season to face South Florida. Bowl officials on Tuesday announced the matchup for the game set to be played on Dec. 24 on the campus of the University of Hawaii.

The school confirmed Tuesday afternoon that the Bulls will play in the Hawaii Bowl on Christmas Eve against San Jose State. Kickoff at Ching Athletics Complex in Honolulu (home stadium for the University of Hawaii) is set for 8 p.m. The game will be televised by ESPN.
